Although no one can prove that there is a close relationship between the facial impression and personal character, people tend to evaluate a person by his or her face.
The purpose of this study is to find out how young Koreans think a man or woman should look alike, and to draw out objective data from their subjective observations.
The facial photographs of 362 young Koreans in their twenties were divided into four groups by the evaluation of their classmates; manly male, womanish male, mannish female, and womanly female. The face and photographs were analysed anthropometrically by the modified Martin¡¯s method.
Compared to the faces with musculine impression, the face with feminine impression have characteristics of smaller lower face with a small chin and mouth, and round face with a narrow nose.
